Mental health services may include:

  • Psychology/Psychiatry—for neuropsychological testing to determine levels of functioning; behavioral health coaching; family counseling. Also, evaluation for possible underlying mental health issues, especially if the person has been in multiple home placements. If comorbid mental health issues are suspected, a psychiatrist can diagnose and treat them.

  • Child welfare or social service oversight—for regular meetings with parents to help identify needs and provide guidance for obtaining services.
